Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Commercial Flooring Project Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating, documenting and reporting on the jobsite activities of commercial flooring projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will work closely with Capozza project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to facilitate smooth project execution while maintaining compliance with safety and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with installation teams, including subcontractors, to ensure specifications are met.
  • Conduct pre-construction site assessments and meetings.
  • Serve as the primary jobsite representative for Capozza, ensuring all communications and project needs are effectively managed.
  • Oversee material deliveries, inventory management, and logistics coordination.
  • Monitor on-site progress and resolve issues related to material defects, installation challenges, or contractor coordination.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations to include documentation of installer PPE use and safety paperwork.
  • Track change order slips and obtain GC signatures.
  • Manage and oversee the completion of the punch-list to ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Provide technical guidance on flooring systems, adhesives, subfloor preparation, and moisture mitigation solutions.
  • Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure successful project execution.
  • Address client concerns and troubleshoot installation issues to maintain project integrity.
  • Act as the primary operator of busybusy to produce progress reports and other important information to the project manager.
  • Act as the primary operator of Floorcloud to monitor and document site conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records of project documents, RFIs, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly project status updates to Project Manager and Field Supervisor.
  • Track project labor costs and support budget management efforts.
  • Document proper installation of flooring materials (to include proper trowel sizes, installation techniques, etc.).

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: 2+ years in construction project management, flooring installation, or a related industry. Experience in commercial flooring is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of commercial flooring materials, installation methods, and industry best practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, BuildingConnected), Microsoft Office Suite, Jobrunner, Floorcloud, and busybusy and others.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certifications (Preferred): OSHA 30, LEED Accreditation, or other industry-related certifications.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to travel to job sites, work in various environments, and lift/move materials as needed.
