Bringing the Outdoors In

A lakeside home in the Western Maine Mountain region is the perfect landscape to enhance an earth-toned pallet with the use of natural elements.
They call the kitchen the heart of the home, and a gourmet kitchen like this one is a great place to share that love with friends and family. For this completely remodeled space, a vein-cut Travertine created a dramatic yet soft background to pair with an arched stonemasonry hood and custom-built cabinetry. The Desert Gold Quartzite on the floor showcases a high color variation while pairing beautifully with the walnut countertop on the island.
Moving further into the house, the bathroom highlights the lake inspiration. In the shower, a custom mural was created by our friends at Wet Dog Tile, who specialize in unique collections of water and animal-inspired decorative ceramics. Here, the boat oars are inset with both glass and stone, and have created a one-of-a-kind piece of art. More pebble stones, from our partners at Island Stone, tuck subtly into the back of the niches before continuing down to the floor. A cooling matte grey handmade ceramic tile by Pratt & Larson clads the walls. Combining all these elements makes the space feel like you are walking along a rocky beach.
For any space in your home, Natural Stone is an excellent material choice to add unique character as well as a timeless look. Stone has textures that create visual interest difficult to replicate in other materials. Ceramic tiles are durable and easy to maintain, and with the endless options of colors, always the right choice when getting creative with your space. With natural and custom materials like these, no two projects will ever be the same.
